Approximately 45 miles from Palm Springs, in Landers California
is a 38 foot high, 50 foot diameter, non metallic dome known as The Integratron.
Built by George Van Tassel in the early 1960’s, The Integratron took 18 years
to construct and carries the distinct reputation of being a rejuvenation machine.
With his interest in meditation and the work of Nikola Tesla, George created
a place where science and spirit has come together.
As the story goes, it was extraterrestrials from Venus who first suggested
the Integratron to George. The Venusians gave him the idea and the plans to
build a machine that would heal. It was supposed to expand the minds of people
and spiritually awaken them. Combining the information given to him by the
Venusians, with traditional methods, George consulted with scientists working
in the Telsa fields and other free energy devices to attempt to develop a
giant electrostatic generator for the Integratron. Sadly, George never had
the opportunity to complete the project. He died mysteriously of a heart attack
in February of 1978.
In the early 1970’s Rob was dirt bike riding in the middle of the desert when
he inadvertently met George. When talking with him, Rob discovered a man of
intelligence as well as spiritual conviction. At that time George was also
very involved in leading conventions of UFO believers that drew thousands
to a remote area of the desert near a massive boulder called Giant Rock. This
was the early 1970’s when such things as X-files we’re not being discussed.
George was one of the first pioneers to shine light on government conspiracies
in the area of UFO’s and abuctee’s. Rumors state that George had direct contact
with UFOs, with eyewitnesses to collaborate the stories. Some feel this was
part of George’s demise.
Approximately 3 miles from the Integratron is Giant Rock, considered one of
the largest freestanding boulders in the world until it split in the year
2000. The rock stands seven stories high, approximately 120,000 tons and also
boosts a colorful history.
The Van Tassel family moved to Giant Rock after the death of the man who lived
under it. Frank Critzer was a miner, prospector, and a shortwave radio enthusiast
who hollowed out the rock to make his home. During World War II, a rumor was
circulated that Critzer was a spy for the Germans. As these allegations spread,
authorities quickly converged on the rock where he lived. When he refused
to come out, they threw in a tear gas canister. Not knowing he had dynamite
for his prospecting, he was blown to bits, with no one ever discovering the
true story.
With the death of Critzer, Van Tassel went on to repair and re-hollow the
damaged home and eventually moved his family to the remote location. He also
opened a working airport, dude ranch and a small restaurant in the area. People
would come many miles to Giant Rock to have a hamburger, a piece of pie and
to participate in UFO conventions held by George and other teachers. It’s
rumored that from time to time, Howard Hughes would fly in to Giant Rock airport
just to eat a piece of the famous pie prepared by George’s wife.
Over the years Rob and I have visited this area many times and have become
very fond of the energy and desert terrain. At least once a year we would
visit the rock, now covered in graffiti and the Integratron, which was primarily
off limits to the general public, until this past year.
In April [2001] I had a call from a friend in Arizona wanting to submit an
article to the magazine. In our conversation, she asked if I had ever heard
of the Integratron? I was surprised, and told her I’ve been visiting and monitoring
that property for over 20 years. My friend went on to tell me that she knew
the owners and had just returned from a retreat at the Integratron. As a feeling
of joy came over me I thought to myself, finally! A chance to find out more
about this mysterious structure as well as the opportunity to experience the
energy I knew intuitively existed on the property. Without hesitation I contacted
the owners and we found ourselves at the Integratron the following weekend.
After 20 years of waiting we were finally in the Dome. Little did Rob and
I realize that our first visit would be the beginning of a summer of Intrigue
and Spiritual Awakenings.
Today, the Integratron property is owned by two sisters, Joanne and Nancy
Karl and two other partners from Northern California. The sisters reside on
the property and have opened the Integratron to weekly tours. They also conduct
sound baths and concerts.
(check website for details).
Over the past several months Rob and I have come to know Joanne and Nancy
in a very deep spiritual and loving relationship. After our first visit to
the “Dome”, as we affectionately call it, we were hooked. The energy of this
sacred space was so sweet and nurturing for us that we made a commitment to
return almost every weekend throughout the summer to help in the up-keep of
the grounds and to support the work of the people behind the scenes. The sisters,
Joanne and Nancy, believe that the Integratron along with being a rejuvenation
machine also facilitates contact with higher realms. The primary healing modality
for the dome today is sound. The unique resonance of the dome created when
standing or sitting in the middle has drawn people from all over the world
to bathe in it’s healing power.
The people involved with the Integratron are very sensitive to what happens
on the property. The belief is, that because of it’s unique resonance, geometry
and relation to Giant Rock and the Pyramids of Egypt, the Integratron sits
in a place that is in direct relation to the Earth’s Grid. Any transmissions,
be it sound; thought or energy goes directly out across our planet. So, it
is essential that all activity on the property maintain a positive nature.
The dedication by the present owners to honor the old history and discover
the truth of George
Van Tassel’s work has been a priority. In the process, by initiating an
environment where science and spirit can meet, the four new owners want
to create a “New History,” for the Integraton. One where there can be
research and understanding of what the Integratron’s gift is to humanity,
and in that process, if we discover that the Integratron did come from
space people, great. That’s even more exciting!
If you are ever in Southern California, consider a visit to Landers to check
out this unique and historic area. Over the past 8 months Rob and I have talked
and met with scientists, ready to complete the work that George started, Spiritual
inutitives, healers, Monks from Tibet, musicians, artists, historians and
people from all walks of life, that came to the Integratron looking to experience
the energy of this sacred site.
One of the most remarkable characteristics of the integratron his how people
find there way to this place. Advertising is done at a minimum, yet people
from around the world have shown up at the gates. The Integratron has been
published in historical, as well as high profile travel guides. Some people
have seen it on TV specials, others remember it as a place their parents took
them when they were children, and still others just casually drop by out of
curiosity. I feel that the people showing up at the dome have been “called.”
This structure sits in the middle of California’s high desert, with little
surrounding it for miles. People will stop by saying, “they we’re just driving
around, saw it in the distance and thought they’d check it out. This summer
we met many people from all walks of life who came to discover the energy
of the dome. I found most were fascinated by the history and science, all
we’re amazed with the energy of peace and tranquility this vortex offered.
Many left the property with a smile on their face and a feeling of renewal.
In some strange way George Van Tassel did create a place of rejuvenation,
maybe not the way he originally intended, but definitely in a way that can
serve humankind.
As you can see Rob and I have a special place in our heart for the Integratron
and the surrounding area. The experience of being on this property has brought
us great joy. If you would like to find out more about the Integratron you
can go to the website at: www.integratron.com. On the site you can review
some of the history, science and spiritual events take place on the property.
