Dear Louise,
I'm a 47-year-old female who's been truly
blessed. I've been able to attend graduate school full time without having
to be employed at the same time. My question is, why am I sabotaging myself?
I've been given this wonderful gift, yet I wait until the last minute
to start projects, I turn them in late, and then I have all kinds of excuses
and delays.
- H.J., Baltimore, MD
Dear H.J.,
Guilt, my dear . . . plain old guilt. For some reason
(early childhood stuff probably), there's a part of you that doesn't believe
you deserve to be "truly blessed." It's only an erroneous belief and has
nothing to do with who you really are. Let it go. Just rejoice in the
fact that you can live a glorious life. You're under the law of your own
consciousness-that is, you live what you think. What other people think
and experience has nothing to do with you. Affirm: I am truly grateful
for my life. I give my
all to life, and life now shares with me the best it has to offer.
Dear Louise,
I thank you for your wonderful books, in which I've
learned so much about how to manage in life. I have become so much happier.
However, I constantly feel that I'm insecure and nervous, and I've suffered
from panic attacks for 30 years. I've got a new job as a primary school
teacher and want to succeed in it and be healthy and happy. Would you
please help me with an affirmation?
— G.M., Sweden
Dear G.M.,
How terrific that you now have an opportunity to teach
your pupils how to be self-confident, joyful students.
What you learn for yourself you'll automatically pass on to your students.
Stop thinking about past failures. Stay in the now. Stay in this moment.
It's the only moment you have. What you choose to think now will create
your future. So, think thoughts that make you feel good. This will change
your vibration from fearful and worried to happy and confident.
Life always mirrors your thoughts. The minute a fearful thought comes up,
replace it with a thought that makes you feel good. Know that you deserve
a good life. What a wonderful role model you will be for your students. They're
so blessed to have you for
a teacher.
Affirm: I deserve to have a good job and a good life. I am worthy of life.
My students love me. Life loves me. I am safe.
Dear Louise,
What thoughts could cause "floaters" in
front of my eyes? What do I need to do to clear them out? What affirmations
do I need to do?
— S.K., Denmark
Dear S.K.,
I had floaters once upon a time. They occurred when
I put myself under a lot of stress. I was very fearful and felt that everyone
was against me. I clouded my own vision. I learned to trust life more,
and the floaters are now a thing of the past.
I suggest that you stop trying to please everyone else. Slow down and
take a small vacation. Do nothing if you can. Taking yoga or tai chi could
be very helpful. If that's not possible, then at lease slow down your
breathing. This really helped me. Take five minutes three times a day
and just sit quietly. Think of what you want to do in life. Ponder upon
what makes you feel good. Begin to see yourself with eyes of love. The
floaters will pass if you're kind and loving to yourself. Affirm: I bless
my eyes with love, I see what I love, and I love what I see. All is well
in my world.
